NBA Great Maurice Lucas Passes Away - 10-31-10

Sad to hear that Maurice Lucas, one of the most fearsome guys that I ever had to play against, passed away today.

He was so tough, and very talenated.  Yet, he was very much a gentleman off the court.

Ironic how this Sports Illustrated cover shows two all time greats in Maurice Lucas and Dennis "DJ" Johnson.  The NBA has been hard hit in losing these two great guys way before their time.  We need more guys like them who can be role models for todays players.

RIP you two in "Basketball Heaven".  I'll miss you!

My book that I've been working on for some time is almost ready for publishing/print.  I met with my publisist this morning and we think that we can get everything ready for a print run before the end of November and the book back in our hands by Christmas.

A. Phillip Randolph Young Scholars Event - October 23rd 2010

I had a wonderful time being the keynote speaker at the A. Phillip Randolph Young Scholars Fundraiser event this past Saturday (October 23rd. 2010).  It's always nice being able to give back to our young people and encourage them to be the best they can be. 

I talked to them about handling peer pressure and "Standing Above the Crowd".

Let me know if you know of a youth group that might need a speaker for one of their events.  I'm always happy to help out if I can.

It was so good to re-connect with some of the guys on my recent trip to China.  We did basketball camps for for school children around town.

We had a blast rehashing old times and having a buch of laughs.  It's good to see that some things never change... they just get better with time.

Great to see you guys again!

Enjoying myself in Hong Kong with friends.

I made several new friends while I was in Hong Kong last week.  These guys (left to right) are Victor Chu, Hoe Lui, David Chu and myself.  We're meeting about exploring some wonderful new opportunities with the NBA and the Legends of Basketball Association.  Good stuff!

I'm back from China and Hong Kong!

I'm just getting back from visiting China and Hong Kong with NBA Cares/NBA China and The Legends of Basketball Association. We were there for 2 weeks conducting b-ball camps and having a lot of fun.

China has it "going on" an they're doing a lot of wonderful things that offer a world of opportunities and possibilities.... I'll be sending out followup reports as I get settled back into my regular routine here in Seattle. No matter what though... it's always great to be back "home".
