Introductory Paragraphs to Standing Above the Crowd by James Donaldson - #10

When I tell people my book is titled, Standing Above the Crowd, the first response tends to be, as they look up at me in awe of my physical stature and height, “Well, that’s easy for you to say. You’re already above the crowd.” I quickly respond, “Maybe the title should have been, Standing Above the Crowd…without being seven feet tall.” I’ve had fun with the title, and I have fun with everyone who talks about it with me. But I don’t want the message to get lost. I want to encourage people—especially younger readers—to Stand Above the Crowd, without having to resort to outrageous tactics that can be embarrassing or damaging to their reputations. After all, there’s a huge difference between being “famous” and “infamous.” Both get you a lot of attention, but one is a positive thing, and the other quite the opposite.
